Nothing more has officially planned, but Randy & I did print out a "to-do" list from theknot.com. It will hopefully help us focus on what needs to be done in the next 272 days...
We have tickets to a bridal show at the Rialto on January 18th and we are hoping to find a florist & cake company. We have heard great things about the bridal show at the Rialto, so I'm looking forward to it!
I have recently discovered the message boards on theknot.com and am slowly becoming addicted. I have learned that most of the brides on there are REALLY (read: obsessively) into planning and also use many, many abbreviations I don't know! I have posted some questions about curly haired brides (are there any who have hairstyle suggestions??) and have asked for some suggestions about some wheelchair accessible services.
After reading a post by one "knottie," I suggested to Randy that we open and start our registry. We did that this morning and have a few items on our lists. It is fun, but we have decided that we will have to do certain things in the store. I am imagining that as a very time-consuming and exhausting excursion! Anyone have an "must-register-for" suggestions?
We also will need to put a lot of time into creating our invitations. We have already chosen them, but need to spend time entering the correct wording and also need to determine an appropriate date for the RSVP deadline. Any suggestions from you all?
Our planning should pick up now that it is 2009, so I'll keep you all posted!

Hmm, must-register-for item? For us, it was a wine cabinet. I kid (kind of). I heart my wine cabinet (thanks, DaGoose!).
I'd say nice pots and pans. We didn't get a lot of new cookware, and that's one thing I look at now and think, "I really need nicer pots and pans." Not that I'm a great cook or anything. I thought it would be my fancy-schmancy Kitchenaid mixer, but I don't use it that often (although Joe does).
The nice knife set (also a gift from the DeGeus family -- thanks, Mrs. DeGeus!) we got also rocks.
Oops, I didn't sign my comment.

I would think of each room of your home and write down things you will need. As far as wording, we searched websites with invitations and combined a few to create our own-- our situation was a little different being that we wanted to include my aunt and uncle. I liked looking at www.inviationsbydawn.com b/c that site "shows" you what it will look like. Gives you a rough draft!
Believe it or not, it is a little stressful registering... I recommend staying away from Target- they suck with their return policy. bed bath and beyond was great... but that was in 2005 I am not sure what they policy is now.
fingers were moving too fast...

I would say the best things we registered for/received were entertaining pieces. Platters, bowls, serving utensils, cloth napkins, tablecloths, napkin rings...etc. These are things I probably wouldn't have purchased myself, but absolutely love having...I get so much use out of these items! I figure I can always buy a set of plates at Target for myself... :)
As for the invites, give yourself three weeks. You'll need one week for late responses to trickle in, and one week to track down everyone who hasn't replied (there will be a few of these). The last week is for things like placecards and a seating chart. Plus you usually need to give the reception place your headcount a week before the wedding.
